# App Store and Google Play screenshot sizes

> Check screenshots against App Store and Google Play rules — iPhone 6.3″ and 6.9″, iPad 13″, Play’s 2:1 limit — and export store-ready PNGs. Free, in-browser.

The App Store requires one iPhone set at **6.3″ (1206 × 2622)** — plus **13″ iPad** if the app runs on iPad — and Google Play wants images no longer than **2:1** without an alpha channel. Drop your screenshots: this checker tells you which store slot each one fits, and exports the missing sizes as PNGs both stores accept. Nothing is uploaded.

## App Store screenshot sizes (2026)

| Display | Portrait sizes (px) | Needed? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| iPhone 6.9″ display | 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796, 1260 × 2736 | Optional — uses the 6.3″ set |
| iPhone 6.5″ display | 1284 × 2778, 1242 × 2688 | Optional — uses the 6.3″ set |
| iPhone 6.3″ display | 1206 × 2622, 1179 × 2556 | Yes |
| iPhone 6.1″ display | 1170 × 2532, 1125 × 2436, 1080 × 2340 | Optional |
| iPhone 5.5″ display | 1242 × 2208 | Optional |
| iPhone Duo outer display | 1398 × 2034 | From April 2027 (iOS 27.1 SDK); one size per set |
| iPhone Duo inner display | 2007 × 2853 | From April 2027 (iOS 27.1 SDK); one size per set |
| iPad 13″ display | 2064 × 2752, 2048 × 2732 | Yes |
| iPad 11″ display | 1668 × 2420, 1668 × 2388, 1640 × 2360, 1488 × 2266 | Optional |

Landscape screenshots use the same sizes turned sideways. App Store Connect requires one iPhone set, 6.3″, and shows it on the other iPhone sizes too, so a 6.9″ or 6.5″ set is optional: add one only if you want images made for the larger screens. A 13″ set covers every iPad if the app runs on iPad. Each set holds up to 10 screenshots.

## iPhone Duo screenshots

iPhone Duo has its own set: **1398 × 2034** for the outer display or **2007 × 2853** for the inner one, portrait or landscape. A set takes one size, so pick the outer or the inner display and use it for every screenshot. It’s optional until April 2027, when Apple starts requiring it for apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK.

## Google Play screenshot requirements

- JPEG or 24-bit PNG, without an alpha channel
- Each side between 320 and 3,840 px
- The long side at most twice the short side (2:1)
- Up to 8 MB per image, 2 to 8 screenshots per device type
- Feature graphic: exactly 1024 × 500

## The iPhone-to-Google Play trap

A 6.9″ or 6.3″ iPhone screenshot (1320 × 2868, 1206 × 2622) is a 2.17:1 shape. Google Play rejects anything longer than 2:1, so the same image can’t go to both stores. The checker flags it, and the **Google Play phone** export keeps your picture and pads it to 1080 × 2160.

## Transparency and formats

Both stores want flat images: JPEG, or PNG without an alpha channel. Screenshots exported from design tools often keep an alpha channel even when nothing is transparent, and Google Play refuses those. Every file this tool exports is a 24-bit PNG with no alpha.

## Taking screenshots without a Mac

Simulator screenshots need a Mac. Instead, install the app through TestFlight on a real iPhone: an iPhone 15, 16 or 17, or a Pro (not Pro Max) from the iPhone 14 Pro on, takes screenshots that already fit the 6.3″ set. From any other phone, drop the screenshots here and export the 6.3″ size. More in [Do you need a Mac?](https://capwr.app/free-tools/do-i-need-a-mac)

Once the sizes fit, the rest of a first submission is the [App Store submission checklist](https://capwr.app/guides/app-store-submission-checklist) and the [Google Play submission checklist](https://capwr.app/guides/google-play-submission-checklist).

## FAQ

### What screenshot sizes does the App Store require?

For iPhone, one set for the 6.3-inch display: 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 pixels in portrait. App Store Connect shows it on larger iPhones too, so 6.9-inch (1320 × 2868) and 6.5-inch sets are optional. For iPad apps, add a 13-inch set: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732. Apple scales these down for smaller devices.

### What are the Google Play screenshot requirements?

JPEG or 24-bit PNG without an alpha channel, each side between 320 and 3840 pixels, the long side at most twice the short side, up to 8 MB each, and 2 to 8 screenshots per device type.

### Can I use my iPhone screenshots on Google Play?

Not as they are. Modern iPhone screenshots are about 19.5:9, taller than Play’s 2:1 limit, so Play rejects them. Export a Google Play phone copy here: it keeps the picture and adds thin bars to reach 2:1.

### Are my screenshots uploaded?

No. Checking and resizing happen in your browser with the canvas API. Nothing is sent to CapWrapp or anyone else.

### How do I take App Store screenshots without a Mac?

Install the app through TestFlight on a real iPhone: an iPhone 15, 16 or 17, or a Pro (not Pro Max) from the iPhone 14 Pro on, takes screenshots that already fit the 6.3-inch set. From any other phone, drop the screenshots here and export the 6.3-inch size.

## About CapWrapp

CapWrapp turns a web app on GitHub — built with Lovable, Bolt, Base44, Cursor or by hand — into iPhone and Android apps. It adds Capacitor if the repo needs it, signs the builds, and ships them to TestFlight and Google Play from GitHub Actions, with no Mac or Xcode on your side.
