What this rejection means

Apple needs a working privacy policy link in App Store Connect and inside the app, for example in settings or on the sign-up screen.

Why reviewers send it

Every app needs a privacy policy that people can reach both from the App Store listing and inside the app. A missing link, a dead URL, or a page that doesn’t cover what the app collects is enough for a rejection.

The message App Review sends

Guideline 5.1.1(i) - Legal - Privacy - Data Collection and Storage

We were unable to locate a privacy policy link within the app or in App Store Connect, or the link provided does not work.

The exact wording changes from one review to the next; the guideline number is what to look for.

How to fix it

  1. Publish a privacy policy page — a /privacy route in your web app works — saying what you collect, why, who you share it with, and how to ask for deletion.
  2. Add the URL in App Store Connect → App Privacy → Privacy Policy URL.
  3. Link it inside the app, in settings and on the sign-up screen.
  4. Resubmit. The in-app link needs a new build.

Fix it with Lovable, Bolt or Cursor

If the app was built with an AI builder, paste this into it, then check the result on a phone:

Add a /privacy page with our privacy policy, and link to it from the settings screen and the sign-up screen.

What to reply in App Store Connect

Replace the [brackets] with what you actually changed:

Guideline 5.1.1(i) — Our privacy policy is at [URL]. It is linked in App Store Connect and inside the app under [Settings → Privacy policy].

Got a different message?

Paste the whole rejection into the rejection explainer. It recognises this one and 26 others, in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Fixed it? Send the build back to App Review

CapWrapp builds the fixed commit on GitHub’s Mac machines, uploads it to TestFlight, and sends the build you pick to App Review from one page — no Xcode.
